Taking a holistic approach, our total solutions combine highly dependable, multi-functional and easy- to-operate instruments, a variety of reagents and software, plus reliable service and support. This allows us to deliver clinical value that primary healthcare workers such as physicians, surgeons and other specialists can use directly to deliver better diagnostics, treatment and (monitoring), and so improve the quality of life and the healthcare journey of their patiens. Our fields of activity We provide solutions for multiple fields – Sysmex is the global leader in haematology diagnostics and service and a renowned specialist in haemostasis, urinalysis, and laboratory automation. While our expertise in the interdependency of disease and medical disciplines grows, we are continuously expanding our solutions portfolio to cover other pressing areas such as oncology, clinical flow cytometry, cytogenetic testing, and essential healthcare in resource-poor regions. Sysmex symbolises quality in laboratories and hospitals around the world. Our Neumünster production site produces and manufactures the reagents to laboratories all over the EMEA region. I 6 I

We have set new benchmarks in the industry with these solutions’ accuracy, ease of use, associated services and consultancy. In haematology testing, we successfully moved our expertise beyond the human patient with our established solutions for veterinary testing, covering a wide range of species and different automation levels. Total lab automation We offer fully automated workflow solutions that ensure lab productivity while offering unattended analysis with ample walk-away time. As an expansion of this portfolio, we offer lab management software that can consolidate testing and performance data. In addition, Caresphere is our digital services and solutions platform to support our customers in the digital transformation process. I 7 I

The strong technological performance of our haemostasis solutions both stabilises the routine and provides high consistency, forming the essential basis for reliable, accurate results and confident interpretation. Life Science In recent years, Sysmex has been focusing on improving cancer management, covering an increasing number of cancer entities. We provide innovative, targeted solutions to improve the cancer management workflow – from screening through diagnostics, surgery and postoperative treatment and support. For example, this field includes diagnostic solutions to test for lymph node metastasis – and liquid biopsy, which increases the opportunity for testing and helps to determine treatment methods at an early stage. Our methods are unique in that we are the world’s only IVD company that stains particles and utilises fluorescence flow cytometry to get the most accurate count and differentiation of cells. By analysing native urine and utilising the technology of fluorescence flow cytometry, analysis is simplified and standardised. Primary care and essential healthcare In many places, going to the general practitioner’s office may be the only medical contact a patient can get, therefore it’s most crucial that these professionals are prepared for a wide range of scenarios. Our products are supporting diagnosis on issues such as malaria, HIV and hepatitis C. I 9 I

In line with our corporate message ‘Together for a better healthcare journey’, Sysmex Europe continuously seeks to offer diagnostic solutions meeting the needs throughout the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region, including essential healthcare and point of care. Flow cytometry With dedicated clinical and industrial applications, our flow cytometry systems and optimised reagent kits cover everything from routine to complex. The flow cytometry technology makes it possible to carry out real-time, absolute counting of cells, cellular subsets and other particles on a volumetric basis. I 10 I

But the story begins a littler earlier, in 1960, when Taro Nakatani, then-vice president of leading megaphone manufacturer TOA Electric Co., Ltd. (presently TOA Corporation), travelled to the United States in search of a new pillar of business. Shift in business In 1961, it was decided that TOA Electric Co., Ltd. would enter the medical electronics industry, and in 1963, the first automated haematology analyser was successfully commercialised in Japan. TOA Electric Co., Ltd. added the newly founded TOA Medical Electronics Co., Ltd. to the company roster, with the former manufacturing and the latter selling. Taro Nakatani Sysmex founder I 13 I

Just two years later, the first European subsidiary was established in Hamburg, Germany with the name Toa Medical Electronics (Deutschland) GmbH, presently Sysmex Europe SE. Sysmex Europe, and thus Sysmex EMEA, was founded in 1980. For over 40 years, we have been growing closer to our customers to provide the best products and services possible. What’s behind Sysmex? Our name comes from the concept of ‘systemisation in medicine’ combined with ‘x’, representing the unlimited growth factor. Recent years have seen aging populations and increasingly diverse healthcare needs in advanced countries and growing populations, and rapid progress in healthcare infrastructures in emerging fields. Against this backdrop, testing and diagnostics have increased in importance, owing to their role in disease prevention and health care. Our ‘why’ We rank among the top 10 IVD companies around the world. But what does that really mean for us? Ultimately, our focus is on the patient. With our products and expertise, we support clinicians and laboratory personnel to make their tasks easier and more efficient, but the patient is behind all that we do. At Sysmex, we play an active role in addressing environmental and other issues facing our society. Therefore, our goal is to give back to society as One Sysmex. For Sysmex, Corporate social responsibility is not a mandated practice, instead, it is something extra that we’re going to do to improve our local and global communities. Social action drives us to be better every day. In the EMEA region, our employees regularly participate in fundraising, blood donation, clean-up and awareness events - and they have fun doing it! Therefore, we take sustainability seriously. We are consistently evolving our practices to ensure a healthier future. This not only includes manufacturing high- quality products with longevity. But we also keep a close eye on our impact on the environment. We aim to improve across the board – from our energy and resource consumption to our commitment to our environment, for example by planting trees locally and donating replacement materials to schools or community centres. Here are just a few of our long-term, sustainable solutions we have implemented over the years: Approximately 15% of the plant’s electricity is generated by rooftop solar panels. All the electricity purchased from external energy providers is generated by hydroelectric power. A solar ice system is utilised to help heat the plant in winter and cool it in summer – the energy output is about six times higher than the input. I 27 I
