Benefits of transitioning from a 3-part differential to a 5-part differential haematology analyser

Automated haematology analysers with the ability to differentiate white blood cells are widely available in routine haematology laboratories and broadly classified as either 3-part or 5-part differential analysers. This SEED article explains the differences in the measurement technology and the benefits that 5-part differential analysers offer such as a more comprehensive flagging system for the detection of abnormal cells or the availability of extended information from additional measurement channels such as the WPC channel.
